This house was built in 1922 as one of a series of tiny bungalows for the oil workers during the oil boom.  Oil is a huge part of the history of Signal Hill, the town even being being dubbed “Porcupine Hill” due to all the oil derricks.  At one point, the Long Beach Oil Field had the world’s highest oil production per acre.  Though production has slowed down significantly since the boom, to this day the hilltop is still dotted with active oil derricks on the city backdrop.

The vision is to transform this 100 year old house sitting on top of oil fields into the most sustainable clean energy zero-emissions house.
